QM Power was awarded a $150,000 SBIR Phase I grant from the Department of Energy for “High Efficiency Commercial Refrigeration Motors”.  This project will further develop and optimize QM Powers innovative and patent pending Q-Sync technology for use in commercial refrigeration applications.  While many commercial refrigeration applications are using shaded pole alternatives at 19% efficiency, many users have realized the benefits of moving to Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM) alternatives which can provide efficiencies into the mid-60% range.  QM Powers Q-Sync is the first commercial refrigeration motor to measure in the 70%+ efficiency with models suggesting even further improvement is possible without an increase in upfront cost to the end user.  QM Power looks forward to pushing the efficiency envelope with its low cost Q-Sync technology.
